Your HubSpot portal already knows which deals are stalling, which emails convert, and which tickets keep coming back. Getting those answers usually means building a report, exporting a list, or waiting on the one person who knows where everything lives. The HubSpot connector for Claude closes that gap. You ask a question in plain language, Claude reads your CRM, and you get an answer grounded in your own data. With write access on, Claude can also update records, log activity, and draft content back into HubSpot. |
Here's the catch. Claude can only reason over what's in your portal. If your CRM has duplicate companies, blank lifecycle stages, and deals with no close date, you won't get a slow report anymore. You'll get a fast, confident answer built on bad data. When anyone on your team can ask HubSpot a question, data quality stops being an ops problem and becomes a decision-quality problem.
Teams that already keep their CRM clean will move fastest, because every answer feeds the next round of testing and refinement. In Loop Marketing terms, the Evolve stage gets shorter.
This guide covers what the connector can do, how to set it up, the prompts worth trying first, the guardrails to put in place before you roll it out to your team, and how to tell when you've outgrown it.
The HubSpot connector is an official integration, built by HubSpot on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), that lets Claude read from and write to your HubSpot account inside any conversation. HubSpot launched it in July 2025 as the first CRM connector for Claude, and it has grown well past read-only reporting since.
Here's what it can work with today:

The setup itself is quick. The decisions behind it take longer, so settle these first:
The connector works on Claude's web, desktop, and mobile apps with the same login.
Before you ask anything, open the connector's tool settings and set Write tools to Needs Approval. Claude will then show you every proposed change and wait for a yes before touching your CRM.
If you connected back when the connector was read-only, disconnect and reconnect to pick up write access and engagement history.
Start with questions you already ask every week. The answers come back faster, and you can check them against reports you trust. Some answers depend on what your portal tracks. If campaign revenue attribution isn't set up in your HubSpot account, Claude has nothing to report on.
Claude can draft and publish blog posts, landing pages, and marketing emails in HubSpot. Blog posts need a title, author, featured image, meta description, and slug to publish. Workflows are the exception: Claude drafts the logic and copy, and you build them in HubSpot.
Two prompt tips: name the campaign and date range for performance data, and say "my team" or "our sales team" to set the scope.
Sales teams can go further with the HubSpot Sales Plugin, which bundles the connector with ready-made skills like Call Prep and Pipeline Pulse.
The connector is built to be safe by default, but a few settings and habits make the difference between a useful assistant and a messy CRM.
On privacy: Anthropic doesn't use data shared through the connector to train its models unless you opt in or submit feedback. Review your Anthropic plan terms and HubSpot's data and privacy FAQ before rollout.
A note for agencies: whether Anthropic can use your conversations to improve its models depends on your Claude plan and your privacy settings. Review your Anthropic plan terms and HubSpot's data and privacy FAQ before rollout.
The connector is built for a person working in a chat. Someone asks, Claude answers, and someone approves each change. For most teams, that's the right place to start. You'll feel the limits when:
That's when the options widen to HubSpot's remote MCP server, which developers can connect to their own tools, or a custom integration built on HubSpot's APIs. Most teams don't need either on day one. Build when the volume is there to justify it.
Vested is a HubSpot Diamond Partner. Before you roll the connector out, we'll audit your portal for the issues that turn into wrong answers: duplicate records, blank lifecycle stages, deals with no close date, and permissions that give the wrong people the wrong data. Then we'll help you set the guardrails and build the first prompts your team will actually use.
On the HubSpot side, yes. It works on every HubSpot tier, including free. You do need a paid Claude plan: Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise.
No. The connector can read, create, and update, but it can't delete. Deletions still happen in HubSpot.
Not directly. Claude can draft the triggers, branches, and email copy, and you build the workflow in HubSpot.
No. The connector mirrors each user's HubSpot permissions, so everyone sees only what they already have access to.
No. Each Claude account connects to one HubSpot account at a time. To switch, disconnect and reconnect to the other portal.
It depends on your Claude plan and privacy settings. Check your plan terms and your model-training setting before rollout.
When you need work to run without a person in the chat, update more than 10 records at once, or combine HubSpot with other systems. At that point, look at HubSpot's remote MCP server or a custom API integration.
